Creative strategy
Community interest company Down to Earth and Eden Project approached us to work on a city-wide nature-based urban regeneration masterplan project in Derby.

As well as providing strategic support and creative ideas to bring wildlife back into the heart of the city centre, our team was tasked to help create a vision for a botanical cocktail bar. Electric Daisy was to be the first location in the city Down to Earth would open, becoming a community garden space by day, and entertainment venue by night. The task was to create a vibrant location, open to all, while generating revenue for the organisation's wider vision.

Concept design
We worked alongside Eden Project to create concept visuals of Electric Daisy. We built on initial sketches by using 3D visuals, viewable in virtual reality.

The bar concept included indoor and outdoor dining areas, planting areas for the Down To Earth Derby team to grow fruit, vegetables and aromats for use in cocktails, and a shop to sell their self-grown produce to the public. The space needed to show flexibility in hosting differing events.
"We’re ecstatic with the work Katapult has put in to realise our vision."
Down to Earth
Design development
Our designs were used as part of a wider stakeholder outreach strategy, to showcase the vision of Down to Earth and for Electric Daisy.

This project culminated in the opening of phase 1 of Electric Daisy in 2022, with further phases currently in development to bring the full design to life.

The results
In 2024, Electric Daisy welcomed over 40,000 visitors to the outdoor venue. Live music events and arts festivals, alongside community events and learning workshops, have helped create a vibrant destination in the heart of the city.

We continue to work with Down to Earth to open up new city centre locations with nature-inspired experiences to aide their vision for the future.
